Homework is an important part of the learning process in third grade. Our third grade policy goes in line with our All-Star incentive plan. Third graders should be spending around 30-40 minutes each night on their homework assignments. There are two parts to homework in our eyes, finishing it and bringing it to school the next day. If either does not happen it results in a sign-off. The student is still expected to finish that homework assignment the next day.
Independent reading should be done on a daily basis at home, starting at fifteen minutes and gradually increasing as the year progresses (this includes a summary in their Reading Journal as well).
