Gardner-Dickinson students learned tips about writing and sampled foods from around the world on Jan. 8 as part of an Arts in Education activity.
Children’s Author Alicia Klepeis, who has written 98 books, met with grades 3 and 6 where she told students about her career as a writer and encouraged them to write. She also brought dozens of foods from around the world to try including seaweed from Korea, canned eel from Japan and stroopwafels from Holland.
Ms. Klepeis also met with 7th graders where she worked with them on writing biographies by asking students to interview each other. “Interviews are a great way to practice writing,” Ms. Klepeis explained.
