Wynantskill UFSD wants to share with our community that Superintendent Dr. Thomas Reardon announced tonight that he is leaving the district at the end of the school year.

Dr. Reardon has accepted an offer to become Superintendent of Schalmont CSD, a school district serving approximately 1,900 students in Schenectady, Albany and Montgomery counties.

“I want to thank everyone in the Wynantskill community who made my time here such a wonderful experience,” said Dr. Reardon. “Gardner-Dickinson is a special place and it is incredibly difficult to leave. But I look forward to this next chapter and the opportunity to serve so many families in the Schalmont School District.”

Dr. Reardon joined Wynantskill UFSD in 2015. He led efforts to create new opportunities for students in art, music, library research and technology while also strengthening learning in core subjects.

Dr. Reardon worked with the Board of Education to develop budgets within the tax cap that were approved each year by our community. He also led the district through its most recent Capital Project, which added classrooms, a performance stage and other building improvements.

“We want to thank Dr. Reardon for his years of service with the Wynantskill family, students, staff, parents, and community. We wish him well in his next adventure,” said Board President Andrew Lanesey.

The Board of Education will discuss next steps for the district in its process to hire a successor to Dr. Reardon. We will keep out community updated of the superintendent search as soon as details are finalized.
