Wynantskill’s bus fleet, consisting of 20 buses, will now be stored and maintained at the Yankee Trails Facility in neighboring Rensselaer.
The leased property at Yankee Trials provides ample blacktop parking along with electricity for buses should they need to be plugged in during the winter months.
The property also has the potential for additional indoor bus garages, and charging stations necessary for the mandated plan by NYS, stating that schools transition to 100% electric bus fleets by 2035.
Yankee Trails has leased space and/or maintained the buses for the Rensselaer City School District for the last 20 years so school buses are nothing new for this service department.
