Field Day 2018 (Photos)
It was a picture perfect day for Field Day on June 19.
Gr. 4 Wax Museum
Gr. 4 held its annual Famous New Yorker Wax Museum on Jun. 13 where students portrayed famous New Yorkers who they researched. Great job!
Students Receive Art From Other Countries
Third graders enjoyed art work created by students from Pakistan, China, Poland, Canada and other countries as part of the OneWorld Classrooms Global Art Exchange.
Gardner-Dickinson students created art earlier this year which was sent to students in other countries.
On May 29, students received artwork through the program, including descriptions from the students who made the art.
The project also ties into Gr. 3 curriculum which includes global social studies.
Congrats to Valedictorian and Co-Salutatorians
Congratulations to this year’s Valedictorian Samantha Cupp and Co-Salutatorians Rielly Countois and Nicholas DeGiorgio!
Budget and Propositions Passed
The 2018-19 school budget was approved by a vote of 119-19 on May 15.
The bus proposition was approved by a vote of 124-12.
The Capital Reserve Fund proposition was approved by a vote of 120-17.
Darcy Mack (121) and Keith Hirokawa (114) were re-elected to 3-year terms on the Board of Education.

Gr. 1 Shares Animal Research
An Animal Wax Museum provided 1st graders an opportunity to share what they learned about animals with other students as they completed their informational writing unit.
“From beginning to end, the children worked so hard on researching, learning, and writing about their animal,” said Teacher Bethany Wallace. “I am so proud of how much they learned and how hard they worked!”
Board of Education Adopts School Budget
The Board of Education adopted the 2018-19 school budget on Apr. 19 which requires no cuts to programs or staff.
The estimated 2.3% tax levy increase is within the NYS Property Tax Cap.
The school budget vote is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15.
A newsletter detailing the school budget will be mailed in early May.
